What you need
Requires a free Google account to copy the sheet.
Compatibility
  • Delivered as a Google Sheets copy link; "Make a copy" places it in your own Drive.
  • Downloads to .xlsx if you prefer Excel. The runway chart rebuilds correctly there; the conditional colour on the balance row does not always survive.
  • No macros, no Apps Script, no add-ons, no external connections. Everything unlocked and unprotected.
  • Employer on-costs are inputs, not assumptions: nothing is pre-filled for any country. Contents are in English.

03 Suited to / not suited to

Who this is for

Suited to

  • Founders deciding whether a hire is affordable and, if so, when
  • Small teams with a known balance, roughly known income and a question about timing
  • Anyone who has been asked "what is our runway?" and had to build a sheet that evening

Not suited to

  • Anyone needing an investor-grade model with a revenue build and a cap table
  • Businesses whose income is genuinely unpredictable month to month, where the output will be a shrug with a chart

Note

The planner does arithmetic on figures you supply. It is not financial, tax or investment advice, and it knows nothing about your local employment costs.

08 Questions about this product

Questions about this product

How does it treat employer costs for a hire?

As a number you enter. There is a note listing the components people forget — employer contributions, equipment, software seats, recruitment fees amortised — but no country rates are built in, because they would be wrong somewhere.

Does it model revenue?

Only as a monthly figure you type in, optionally with a growth rate. There is no pipeline, no conversion assumption and no cohort logic. If revenue is the interesting part of your question, this is the wrong file.

Can I compare more than three scenarios?

The scenario tab is built for three side by side. Adding a fourth column means copying the formula block once; the layout is a deliberate constraint, not a technical one.

Is it different from the cashflow model?

Yes. The cashflow model is monthly detail for twelve months, including invoices and tax set-aside. This one is coarse and long: headcount against a balance over twenty-four months, for a single decision.
